The NOMA Flavour Index: Every Flavour, Ranked by Strength, Sweetness and Chill

Most brands list their flavours and leave you to guess. This is the whole NOMA range described properly: what it tastes of, how sweet, how cold, how strong, and who it actually suits. Every can holds twenty pouches, regular slim, ultra-soft, moist, made in Estonia to EU standards.

For adults 18 and over.

The fruit end

Island Pineapple — 4mg

Bright tropical pineapple, sweet-tart, with a clean cooling finish rather than a cold one. The lightest thing we make and the one we hand to anyone starting out. Acidity makes it the right answer after anything milky — teh tarik, kopi susu, Milo ais — where mint would clash badly.

Buy it if: you are new to pouches, or you want something you can use through a whole working day without it dominating.

Frosted Berries — 4mg

Raspberry, blueberry and blackcurrant layered over a proper chill. Same light strength as Island Pineapple but a much colder finish, which makes it feel stronger than it is. A useful lesson in how cooling and nicotine are not the same thing.

Buy it if: you want a low strength that still feels like something is happening.

Cherry Noir — 6mg

Deep, velvety black cherry with almost no cooling. The most grown-up flavour in the range and the one that surprises people most, because the category has trained everyone to expect cold. Sits beautifully with grilled meat, satay, and anything dark in a glass.

Buy it if: you dislike mint, or you want something for the evening rather than the commute.

Blueberry Bliss — 6mg

Sweet, fragrant blueberry with a frosty edge. The sweetest fruit option and a natural after dessert — cendol, gula melaka, anything with coconut milk in it.

Buy it if: you have a sweet tooth and want the chill anyway.

The mint end

Smooth Mint — 6mg

Mellow, rounded mint with a medium chill and a clean finish. The most versatile pouch we make and comfortably our most popular. Cuts through sambal, coconut rice and fried food without erasing the meal you just enjoyed.

Buy it if: you want one pouch that works after any meal. If you are only buying one can, buy this one.

Ice Cool — 12mg

Straightforward, cold, uncomplicated mint at a strength that means it. Blunt in the best sense — the right answer after char kuey teow or anything with real wok hei behind it, where subtlety is wasted.

Buy it if: 6mg has stopped registering and you want the same clean profile with more behind it.

Peppermint Freeze — 18mg

Sharp peppermint, arctic cooling, almost no sweetness. This is a reset button rather than a flavour, and it is the only honest answer to durian. Not a beginner's pouch.

Buy it if: you have established tolerance and want the coldest thing on the shelf.

Arctic Drift — 30mg

Our ceiling. Icy mint at a strength that experienced users respect and everyone else should leave alone. We would rather tell you it is too strong than sell you one you regret.

Buy it if: you already know you want 30mg. If you are unsure, you don't.

The dessert corner

Fizzy Cola — 9mg

Classic cola with caramel depth and a bit of fizz on the finish. Barely any cooling, which makes it the outlier in the range and a genuine novelty in the category. Nostalgic in a way no mint can be.

Buy it if: you want something that tastes like a treat rather than a product.

How to pick, in four lines

Most people end up carrying two — one mint for after food, one fruit for the rest of the day. If you would rather taste before committing, the variety packs exist for exactly that, and the pairing guide covers what to reach for after which meal.
